Hugh Higginson worked for many years as a builder and building surveyor, Hugh decided it was time to develop his passion of designing and making garden products.
It started with a few roof and floor slates left over from a building project.
Hugh made some different style bird boxes and put them up on the garden fence. The result was really encouraging. The enthusiastic response from both his neighbours and some Blue Tits, which successfully produced a clutch of six chicks, inspired Hugh to create new ideas and designs and his range of garden products continues to expand. Using principally Welsh slate and his own hand formed ironwork, Hugh has successfully created a range of unique garden products including nets boxes, bird tables, water features, with other new exciting products on the way.
The enduring and attractive quality of Welsh slate combined with Hugh’s designs, bring luxury for your birds and art to your garden.
An important element for Hugh is that everything he makes is attractive to look at and hand crafted to last many years.
Hugh sources his slate from Snowdonia, Cwt-y-Bugail quarry (“shepherd’s hut”).
Hugh exhibits at a number of shows, details of which you will find on his website or facebook page.
